At The Manchester Settlement, we’ve been proud to help people find opportunities and support in life where previously none could be found. With two major Supported Housing projects being undertaken by the team, First Key Homes and Young Peoples Housing Project, we make sure that support and assistance is provided as often as it can be. Supporting those without the same opportunities as others is something that we have always strived to do, and this is not going to change anytime soon.

Our supported housing program, though, can feel a little confusing for those who are just entering the need for a property. Anyone from the age of 16-24 is eligible for referral to the Manchester Settlement team. By working with various agencies to help find support and assistance for any young person in need, we make sure that support is both amble and accessible.

The Most Common Problems Facing Young Adults

A deeply competitive city, some of the most common problems we deal with at Manchester Settlement follows this problem. The excessive competition levels can leave those in the 16-24 age bracket without opportunity or ambition. This makes it harder for management of everything from filling in relief forms to handling and budgeting money provided a huge, struggling challenge for most.

If you would like to get around this problem, then you can find support with the Settlement. We provide assistance with the most common issues that are likely to hold you back. From introduction to helpful facilities and services that can help you move on, to successfully claiming for benefits you are entitled to, we make it easy for you to get the help and support that you need.

The most common issues are caused by an inability to get on the ladder. This means finding the funding and the opportunity for long-term progression and improved living conditions is very hard to find, or guarantee.

It’s why we work with various units to try and deliver a program that makes it easier for the homeless and those in poor living conditions to find an opportunity. With thanks to the Manchester City Council Children’s Services and the Housing Communities Agency, we have been able to use the vast benefits of supported housing to make sure people have the help that they need to live independently and make the most of themselves.

This has been the aim of Manchester Settlement since our foundation: to help find the first steps needed into a fully functional lifestyle. With various properties, we can help people get access to the housing market and to manage in the world of independent living through our First Key Homes scheme.

These properties are managed and cared for and are in the Openshaw area. They make it easy for those without the opportunity to make a success of themselves to learn the basics to living alone, and to be able to handle the challenges that it produces.

Our aim is simple: to deliver a program that is going to improve the living conditions and lifestyle opportunities of all. If you, or someone you know, is in need of supported housing assistance, please contact us today: we can help you find the best path forward.
