manchester settlement turns 130!
This year, Manchester Settlement celebrates 130 years since it was founded in 1895. That's 130 years of making stronger communities, together!
We’re immensely proud to continue the important community work that began all those years ago.
To mark this milestone, we held a week-long celebration and everyone got involved. Check out what went on below.

welcome to Manchester Settlement
Manchester Settlement is a charity that is rooted in the urban communities of Manchester. The charity has existed in varying forms for 130 years delivering an ever-changing palette of services to meet the developing needs of individuals, families and communities.
We are proud of the breadth of activity that we have been able to offer and of the flexibility and desire that we have to move into new areas of activity that will benefit our community.
We are delighted to have been recognised as committed to the Disability Confident Employers Scheme
A warm welcome
We pride ourselves on providing a warm welcome, you will be greeted by our super friendly reception team who are always ready to help. Our bustling reception will have children & families from our nursery, members of the community heading to the one of the services we offer & staff going about their day. This provides a happy & vibrant atmosphere that we hope you feel as soon as you enter the building.
Publishing our solidarity with asylum seekers
We have just published a joint statement of solidarity with people in asylum hotels from voluntary and community organisations in Greater Manchester. We want to send a clear message that people seeking asylum are welcome here, despite the hostility people are feeling, from both the Home Office and the far right. See our statement below.
'WE ARE' MANCHESTER SETTLEMENT BOOKLET LAUNCH
We are delighted to share with you all our new 'We are Manchester Settlement' booklet. This is the culmination of a project undertaken by Rosie Humpage, an intern from Manchester University. Rosie spent 8 weeks with us interviewing as many service users & staff members as possible to help create a document that puts into words the feeling of being part of our amazing charity.
We would like to thank Rosie for all her hard work & we hope you enjoy reading! Click here to view the booklet.
