Manchester settlement turns 130 years old
In 2025 Manchester Settlement turns 130 years old! We are incredibly proud of all of the fantastic work that the charity has achieved since its formation in 1895. We strive to continue this legacy, providing support for the local community from early childhood through to adulthood. This support comes in the form of care, advice and education, offering a place of belonging to everyone and always creating stronger communities, together!

How we celebrated
In November we held a celebration week which was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate 130 years of Manchester Settlement. Here is everything that went on during the week...
Afterschool club put on a Victorian themed dress-up tea party. They even recreated images of Manchester Settlement that were taken in the early 1900s.
Our Supported Housing team put on birthday party for Manchester Settlement, with quizzes and food made by the young people - everyone was thrilled to celebrate the work we do.
Youth club celebrated its own history, inviting both past and present youth club members to party together.
Our Community team held birthday parties across all services: conversation club based their English practice around the topic of birthdays; Stay and play had a rainbow party for the children; pantry had a chance to come together to share a birthday cake and have a chat, and Wellbeing Wednesday had fun with party games and plenty of singing and dancing.
Nursery invited parents to celebrate with them, with Manchester Settlement themed play activities and circus-style games.
There were smiles throughout the building all week. Check out the pictures below
a Big Birthday celebration
At the end of this week we held an event which allowed us to celebrate with stakeholders, partners, friends, staff and service users. It was incredibly special to have the opportunity to come together and share this milestone with the wider Manchester Settlement community. Thank you to everyone for your support.
At the event we had music, food (provided by Levenshulme Inspire) and exhibitions exploring both the history of Manchester Settlement and our fantastic current work. We also had wonderful speeches by Councillor Thomas Robinson, Angela Beacon from Manchester Local Care Organisation, and Chief Executive of Manchester Settlement, Adrian Ball.
This was a an amazing chance to celebrate our history and look to the future of Manchester Settlement. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story.
